Tech Focus: Telos Alliance introduces Z/IPStream X/20 and R/20

ZIPSTREAM X20 and R20

Tech Focus: The Telos Alliance says that the Z/IPStream X/20 and R/20 represent the next generation of encoding and processing platforms. It adds that, as successors to the X/2 software and R/2 hardware products, X/20 and R/20 offer the same “high-quality” codecs and versatile encoding features as their predecessors but set the stage for the introduction of new features and processing options to “help users create their best content, now and for years to come.”

Z/IPStream X/20 is an all-in-one streaming audio software encoder and processing platform for Windows PCs and servers, while R/20 is a dedicated 1RU encoding and processing hardware appliance with AES/EBU, Livewire and AES67 I/O. Both feature adaptive streaming in support of Apple HLS, Microsoft Smooth Streaming formats, MP3 and various AAC codecs.

X/20 and R/20 introduce Omnia Forza to the Z/IPStream family. This all-new five-band processing algorithm includes a target-driven ITU-R BS.1770 loudness controller to make conforming to emerging streaming loudness requirements a set-and-forget process. Nielsen watermark encoding formally debuts on X/20 and R/20, joining Kantar in the company’s growing list of audience measurement tools.
